The PCIC family is saddened to report the passing of Dr. Jim Turley, one of the three founding board members of Patient Care Intervention Center.
Jim was an integral part to the founding of PCIC. His expertise in bioinformatics and background in nursing was instrumental in bridging the gap between technology and healthcare. He helped design the platform and define PCIC’s mission to connect vulnerable individuals to services. Jim was also an Associate Professor at University of Texas-Houston, School of Nursing and a founding faculty member at the School of Biomedical Informatics, before he retired in 2012.
He was an avid explorer whose hobbies included cycling, photography, and scuba diving. He could often be found bicycling around Houston, or snapping pictures all over the world, as seen below during an outreach trip to rural India. In his last years he overcame huge obstacles by tremendous persistence and drive was able to bicycle again. He was unstoppable. He was a force that will forever inspire us.
His compassion towards others and his propensity for service was immeasurable. Please join us in celebrating his life and sending condolences to his family.
